Our founder, Michelle Crochet, was addicted to chocolate from an early age, thanks to her mother’s Rocky Road candy recipe, a unique twist on the classic. That Rocky Road candy became the muse for Michelle’s sweet journey and the creation of Droga Chocolates. While spending a year living with her relatives in Italy, Michelle was inspired by the Italian food culture… how a few clean, simple, high quality ingredients can be combined to form something beautiful and delicious. When she returned home, she started a chocolate company out of her apartment in San Francisco using her mother’s Rocky Road recipe. She named her company Droga, after the Italian word for ‘drug’, both as a fun nod to her chocolate addiction, and as a salute to her Italian inspiration.
Today, Droga products can be found across the country at fine retailers like Starbucks and Whole Foods, but we are still committed to making unique chocolates using only simple, clean, all-natural ingredients. So, when you’re in the mood to indulge, Droga offers the perfect treats. All you need is a friend to share them with because you won’t want to stop at just one piece.
